Two Years Later: Raja Ampat Diving

Two Years Later: Raja Ampat Diving

It was all started a couple of years ago when we did our first Liveaboard trip with the boys at Komodo National Park back in 2015. It was great experience that I won’t ever forget. And we agreed that, “Hey, we should do this again, and our next trip should be in Raja Ampat!” I totally agreed.

It took us 4 years to make it come true. Since we have to established Air Dive Alor in 2017. After two years, then we had a chance to do it this Feb.

i was so excited that until day 1  I almost didn’t do any research about diving in Raja Ampat. What i know is, i will have a liveaboard trip in Raja Ampat for 8D/7N. I don’t bother if its going to south or north, i let @justmaul arrange what is best to us and of course let the universe (weather conditions) decide.

it was @justmaul who actually triggered us to have this trip this year. Last year, he informed us (boys at Brotrip) that he got an offer from Benetta which he joined their trip earlier, he said it will be a good price for this. I said “i am in if everybody’s in. We once planned for this, right?”

To chartered a phinisi means you book the whole ship and a crew plus two divemasters. The quota was maximum 8 divers, Brotrip guys only 6 people, and in around mid last year, @jeprisinaga have to canceled the trip since he has another plan for this year. So we have three quota left. Then we started to send the invitation to some of our closest friends who might be interested with the trip. And we are happy that Ipeh, Idel, and Moyo can join. We got the all crew, everybody were excited.

So here we are, diving in one of the most rich marine life in the world!

Air Dive Alor – Exploring Days

air dive

As planned, finally comes the time when we have to speed up the process by moving to Alor. There will be Willy, Acionk and Bram, who will help us prepare everything for the next 3 months.  Previously Maul has helped back and forth setting up the legal documents for our dive centre operation during Acionk and Bram’s Divemaster’s Trainee in Nusa Lembongan, Bali. And also took a freelance job as Divemaster in Nusa Lembongan. Now they had finished their contract and ready to move back to Alor.

For the next couple of weeks, they will explore sites, mapping (hopefully) all covered dive sites before we officially launch next years. While on the land, we are currently built the boat, and ready to build the office.

I am happy to see what we’ve been through so far. To have a chance to visit Alor and helped the boys set up their new home for the next 6 months. Almost everything is on track, of course there was some adjustment here and there, but it’s normal. Part of the process. Lets hope that everything goes well for couple months ahead.

Oh and thanks to Monic who also helped us on moving in to Alor, and Yvonne who will help us exploring dive sites in Alor. You guys are awesome! I’ll see you guys anytime soon.

updates: our website is now live at www.airdivealor.com Yeay!

Do's & Don'ts Diving Nusa Penida

Beberapa hari lalu iseng browsing facebook timeline dan menemukan video tentang Code of Conducts Diving di Nusa Penida yang dishare oleh Chloe, Dive Instructor Lembongan Dive Centre. Video ini tentang do's and don't's selama diving di Nusa Penida.

Thanks for a friendly reminder and hopefully we can be a better diver.

Malam di Alor

Malam di Alor

Terbangun jam segini habis tiduran di depan kamar (lagi). Langit Alor bikin senyum-senyum sendiri nggak jelas kaya orang lagi jatuh cinta. Biasalah, tipikal anak jakarta lihat bintang-bintang.

Star gazing lagi.

Kita amazed, sang kapten kapal santai saja cuma bilang, "yah besok paling ketemu lagii". Bukan bualan.

selamat malam, semoga harimu juga menyenangkan.

Brotrip Featured in The Jakarta Post

Do you see text with link down there saying 'Traveling With Brotrip'? That is a project with my friends telling about our manifesto on traveling, collaboratively written in a website called brotrip.co.

Last week we got featured by The Jakarta Post Newspaper. That was one of unexpected journey we had, we never thought that this project will be acknowledged by media. As mentioned in the article, we started this as a documentary or a journal of our trip, along with our friends. We believe in every trip, there is a story left behind, and every individuals has their own story that they can express. That's why we create the platform.

We are preparing another exciting project which hopefully can start by this year. And this little exposure from Jakarta Post means a lot to us. Definitely a booster to start a year.
